Samar hones her calligraphy skills under the esteemed guidance of world-renowned Master Calligrapher Haji Noor Deen of China. She has completed over 100 pieces as part of her study over a period of 2 years from Hajinoor’s calligraphy book (equivalent to graduation). She specializes in 4 different styles of Chinese Arabic Calligraphy.
- Broad Qalam Style – written with a wooden qalam (pen) wrapped in a cloth.
- Brush Style – written with Chinese brush.
- Hand Drawn Style – written in drawing format by hand.
- Pictorial Style – written in a form depicting an object.
Chinese art is one of the oldest continuous artistic traditions in the world. Sini is a calligraphy style used in China for the Arabic script.
It follows beauty, balance and proportion. It is also characterised by its thick strokes. There are many versions of Sini calligraphy such as broad qalam style, brush style, hand drawn style, pictorial style and Sini Muhaqqaq.
