Kufic
Samar received her Ijazah (Certificate of Master Calligrapher) in Almoravid Kufic Calligraphy from Master Calligrapher Mohammed Abouzaid of Fez, Morocco. She has also studied Fatimid Kufic at Ebrahim College, London.
She teaches both Kufic scripts online.
Kufic is characterised by angular, rectilinear letterforms and its horizontal orientation. There are many versions of Kufic, such as square Kufic, floriated Kufic, knotted Kufic and others.
As well as used as the script for Quran, it was also used for monuments & decorations of buildings, carving on stones & tiles, bricks.
